Membership
SDCVMA Membership is by calendar year, renewing every January.
Veterinarian dues are $250 annually.
Support Staff dues are $45 annually.
SDCVMA Membership Classifications:
ACTIVE MEMBER: Active membership will be considered for applicants who present satisfactory evidence that they are currently veterinarians and reside or work within the boundaries of San Diego County or Imperial County.
NON-RESIDENT MEMBER: Veterinarians applying for Non-Resident membership must reside outside the boundaries of the Corporation. Non-Resident members will pay 80% of the current dues.
AFFILIATE MEMBER: Affiliate membership will be considered for applicants who present satisfactory evidence that they are currently California Registered Veterinary Technicians and/or currently employed as veterinary support staff. Affiliate members shall not have the right to vote. Such Affiliate members may serve on committees and one RVT may be elected to serve on the Corporation Executive Board.
RETIRED MEMBER: An Active member in good standing of the SDCVMA for a minimum of fifteen (15) years, at time of retirement from practice, may petition for Retired membership status. A Retired member will pay 60% of the current dues and will retain all voting rights the same as an Active member. A Retired member is defined as a veterinarian that is no longer engaged in day-to-day practice of veterinary medicine.
LIFE MEMBERSHIP: Life membership is hereby provided to an active member of the SDCVMA for a minimum of thirty (30) years, and who is at least 65 years of age who may petition the Executive Committee for Life membership status. Life members will pay no dues and will retain all voting rights as an active member.
DISTINGUISHED LIFE MEMBERSHIP: Distinguished membership is hereby provided as an honor bestowed upon an exemplary veterinarian who has been a member in good standing of the SDCVMA for twenty-five (25) years or longer. Proposals for Distinguished membership shall be referred to the Executive Committee for consideration. The nominee shall have submitted letters from two SDCVMA members in good standing indicating the nominee's exemplary service to the Corporation and/or veterinary medicine in general. Said distinguished member shall retain all voting rights and privileges of regular full membership. Distinguished members shall be exempt from all dues.
HONORARY MEMBERSHIP: Honorary membership is hereby provided to be conferred upon those who have distinguished themselves in veterinary or allied sciences such as human medicine or animal husbandry. Proposals for such membership shall be in writing and referred to the Executive Committee for consideration. Upon favorable action by the Executive Committee, the proposal shall be reported to the Corporation in the minutes before being voted upon by the Executive Committee, where a two-thirds vote of the Executive Committee members present shall be required for election. Honorary members shall be exempt from all dues and entitled to all rights and privileges of membership except the right to vote.
