Dr. Grant Mayne, MBA

Grant Mayne, DVM - Attended Cornell University for both his undergraduate (’67) and graduate education (’71). Following graduation and working as an associate in a Boston practice, he designed and built the Vickory Hill Veterinary Hospital in Southboro, MA. The Hospital received the Excellence in Design award in 1978 from the Veterinary Economics magazine.

In the eighties, Dr. Mayne decided to explore the business world and was accepted into the Boston University Business School. In 1990, with his MBA in hand, he moved to California and accepted a managerial position with a newly formed corporation, the Veterinary Centers of America. Opportunities in the subsequent years took Dr. Mayne and his family to Portland, OR and then back to CA to Lake Arrowhead. It was there Dr. Mayne partnered with Dr. Patrick Rains and established the Arrowhead Animal Hospital.

Years later, after selling the Arrowhead Animal Hospital, Dr. Mayne moved to San Diego. He has been a SDCVMA member since 2007 and served on the Board as Secretary/Treasurer and Vice President. He looks forward to his new position as President Elect of the Board in addition to traveling, tennis and (with the wary approval of his three daughters) supervising the raising of his six grandchildren.
